Academic Search Premier - info
A multidisciplinary database, the contents of Academic Search Premier spans just about any academic subject. The database contains both scholarly and popular resources.

Cambridge Collections Online - Literature, Classics, Philosophy & Religion
This is a collection of the digital versions of the print Cambridge Companion volumes. Over 280 volumes and over 2,800 scholarly essays are included, freely searchable, and available full-text in PDF format within the database.

Biographies, bibliographies, critical analyses and journal articles for literary study. Primary reviews published at the same time as important works are also included.

MLA International Bibliography -Coverage: 1926 - present info
The most important database for literary research, Modern Language Association International Biography is an enormous database indexing scholarly resources on all subjects related to linguistics and literature of any genre from any period. Please note that the database indexes not only journal articles, but also books, book chapters and dissertations. This is not a full-text database.

Jstor is a full-text, searchable archive of academic journals from many subjects, including Language and Literature and other relevant subjects.  Volumes of these journals are available starting from the first issues and running up to 3 to 5 years ago; no current issues are available in JSTOR

Access to full-text coverage for over 300 high quality humanities, arts, and social sciences journals from 60 scholarly publishers.
 

Additional In-depth Materials

This is a database with extensive indexing of books published in English worldwide. Some book reviews are included, as are a limited number of synopses.

This database, focusing on the Medical Humanities, offers a collection of primary fiction and poetry titles, many with plot summaries and commentary. Search by keyword, title, or person, or browse by Annotation (title) or Author.

This database offers a collection of historical documents published between 1000 and 1800. It will be helpful to those looking for primary government documents from Europe covering this time period. Go to the "Search" page to search for particular words or phrases, or browse the document by source type.

Iter - info  Middle Ages and Renaissance (400-1700) 
Records include journal articles, essays, reviews, dissertation abstracts.  It is not a full-text database, but by clicking the Check for full-text button, you can check to see if we have it in print, electronically, or you can inter-library loan the item. Go into the Advanced Search page for more options for searching.

Within the FirstSearch service, choose AHSearch, which covers a wide range of topics including language and linguistics, literary reviews, literary theory and criticism, literature and theater. Materials indexed include journal articles, bibliogrpahies, editorials, letters, reviews, and more.
A database of mostly scholarly journal articles, some in full-text, specifically for the discipline of communication and mass media.
