ERIC
A very extensive database covering all topics in educational research. Note you can also limit, before or after your search, to Academic Resources or Peer-reviewed Resources.
PLEASE NOTE: ERIC contains not only journal articles (EJ), but government documents, books, book chapters, etc. (ED). When you find a good title, be sure and note what type of material it is. (Most ED items are available online, via the "Full Text from ERIC" link. If it’s a book or a chapter within a book, we may have it in print-- search our catalog.)
Proquest Research Library: Education Module - info
This database is less extensive than ERIC, but it is certainly worth a try. The link takes you straight into the Advanced Search page, and you can search for your topic from there. Note that you can limit to Scholarly journals, including peer-reviewed, before you search.
PsycINFO - info
A very extensive psychology database that will be useful to anyone looking at cognition or psychology and educational development. Note that you can limit to Scholarly journals, including peer-reviewed, before you search.
Academic Search Premier - info
A general database that indexes articles in academic journals, newspapers and magazines covering nearly all academic disciplines. Note that you can limit to Scholarly journals, including peer-reviewed, before you search.
JSTOR - info
Includes archives of over 60 Education journals. Complete journal runs have been digitized, although recent issues are not included (the latest issues will be from 3-5 years ago). This is an entirely full-text database, so searching will produce lots of results, but you will be able to access the complete article in every case.
