Call Numbers

Call numbers tell you where a book is shelved. In the Francis A. Drexel Library, we use Library of Congress Classification which groups titles by subject matter.

The following call number ranges will help you get started: Classification for Languages and Literatures (P). For works by or about an individual literary author, please search our catalog to find a more specific call number.

Books Classic Catalog Search
  • The Classic Catalog is best used when searching for a specific title or author.
  • You can start a subject search by using the dropdown to change the search field from 'title' to 'keyword'.
  • When you find a book of interest, click on the Library of Congress subject headings in the record to find similar items.
  • You can also browse by Call Number to take a virtual walk through the book stacks.
  • Use 'Modify Search' to limit your keyword search results to books in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish.
  • You can also use the Advanced Search screen to limit by language or format.

Book Reviews Online

  • Books in Print
Includes book reviews from Booklist, Horn Book, School Library Journal, Publisher's Weekly and others.
  • Book Review Index Online
This is just an index -- it provides only citations to the book reviews, not the full text.
    Coverage 1965 to the present.
