Call Numbers

Call numbers tell you where a book is shelved. In the Francis A. Drexel Library, we use the Library of Congress Classification which groups titles by subject matter.

The following call number ranges will help you get started:

  • The Classic Catalog is best used when searching for a specific title or author. 
  • You can start a subject search by using the dropdown to change the search field from 'title' to 'keyword'.
  • When you find a book of interest, click on the Library of Congress subject headings in the record to find similar items.
  • You can also browse by Call Number to take a virtual walk through the book stacks.
