FAQ's -- Read over before beginning the tutorials
These tutorials are meant to introduce you to the research process, and the tools that we provide online through the library for research in education. Please read over the FAQ's below so that you know a bit more about them.
How long will they take to watch?
The tutorials take about 30 minutes to complete.
Should I follow along with demonstrations?
Anytime we give a demonstration in the tutorials (particularly in the Searching SocIndex and Searching NCJRS tutorial), you can certainly follow along if you'd like by pausing the video and trying out the techniques in another window. We encourage you to do so - it's often the best way to learn!
Can I watch them in any order?
The first time you view them, watch them in the order they are listed, because later tutorials do assume knowledge of earlier tutorials. If you need to refer back to a tutorial anytime you're doing research, they are divided up by concept so that you can do so easily.
Are they specific to my class?
Because a wide range of students view these tutorials, we cannot make them specific to a particular class or topic. If you have specific questions about your topic, please get in touch with us by going to the Help! tab.
Will they disappear during the semester sometime?
These will be accessible to you throughout your program if you need to refer back to them in later courses.
