This site is highly recommended for general readers, students at all levels and research scholars.[Reviewed]

American National Election Studies(NES) - This site provides access and information about some of the data collected by the NES at the University of Michigan.[Reviewed]

Assessing The New Federalism State Database - This is a website funded by the Urban Institute, makes available at no charge information on the 50 states and the District of Columbia. The site also includes published research and downloadable data on income security, health, child well-being, demographics, fiscal and political conditions, and social services.[Reviewed]

Biographical Directory Of The United States Congress: 1774-Present - As part of its self-mandated transition to government information in electronic format, the US Congress presents a Web version of this long-standing historical publication.[Reviewed]

Campaigns And Elections(Formerly Titled Congressional Quarterly's American Vote) - This site provides students and citizens with a reliable, convenient, and useful starting point for obtaining a wide variety of information on American politics.[Reviewed]

Center For Democracy And Technology - This website has pages that track relevant government activities and business practices with substantial archives including, most notably, testimony, speeches, policy papers, and other material prepared by CDTs own attorneys and policy analysts. This is also famous for following pending legislation's.[Reviewed]

Center For Information Law And Policy - This is one of the several sites that have changed the scope of legal research. Outstanding among the interesting collections are links to federal and state government information, with special emphasis on court decisions. A database of all Supreme court opinions from 1937-75 is included.[Reviewed]

Center For Responsive Politics - This website is a virtual gold mine for scholars studying the influence of money in contemporary congressional politics. Recommended for all levels.[Reviewed]

Center For The American Woman And Politics - This website is dedicated partly to information and links for those interested in the Eagleton Institute for Politics or graduate study at Rutgers University;partly to links to more general women's studies information;partly to list of CAWP publications.[Reviewed]

Center for the Study of the Presidency - Organization devoted to the academic study of the presidency. Contains a useful collection of web links on both foreign and domestic policy areas. The Center Fellowship Program provides a great opportunity for students to participate in leadership programs on the presidency with high ranking government officials.

This site, maintained by a Washington, DC-based public affairs organization and a publisher of congressional directories, provides a simple but quite useful membership directory for both houses of Congress.[Reviewed]

CongressLink - This site offers students and teachers "one-stop shopping" for basic information on Congress. The site is sprinkled with numerous direct links to related Internet pages. [Reviewed]

C-SPAN - A public affairs service of America's cable television companies

Federal Election Commission - Students who seek to track the flow of "hard money" into American electoral politics will find much help on this site. This site is updated regularly and appropriate for all levels.[Reviewed]

Freedom Channel - This is an innovative, nonpartisan site that makes video-on-demand available to students of American politics. The site offers video views of candidates for US House, US Senate, and governor. It also includes brief video presentations by issue groups. LLSDC's Legislative Source Book - This offers a fine web guide to sources of governmental legislative and legal information. No other site offers as good a guide to terminology and resources as LLSDC; recommended for use by law, academic, and public libraries.[Reviewed]

National Archives And Records Administration - This preserves documents relevant to US history and oversees the management of all federal records. The National Security Archive - The Archive's primary mission since its inception in 1985 has been to serve as a clearing house of declassified US documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. The Odum Institute's Data Archive - This website serves as the exclusive repository for the Louis Harris polls from 1958 to the present. It also houses the Roper Center's International Survey Library Association and much more.[Reviewed]

Opensecrets.org: Formerly Titled Center For Responsive Politics -This site is a virtual gold mine for scholars studying the influence of money in contemporary congressional politics. The CRP's purpose is to "study Congress and particularly the role that money plays in its elections and actions".[Reviewed]

Public Affairs Web - This site purports to be a "first stop solution to finding information on issues and organizations concerning local,state and national governments".[Reviewed]

Public Agenda Online - Since 1975, Public Agenda, founded by social scientist Daniel Yankelovich and former Secretary of State Cyrus Vance, has worked to "help leaders better understand the public's point of view on major policy issues" and to "help citizens better understand critical policy issues". Its website expands the outreach of this opinion.[Reviewed]

Research Resources In Political Science - This site is University of Michigan's Documents Center website which serves as a political science gateway.[Reviewed]

Roll Call Online - This site is more specialized and focused on Congress than are similar cites. A few minor errors were found:e.g.,the "election map" was not a map at all,but perhaps it will be in the heart of election season.[Reviewed]

Roper Center - This is a unique resource providing access to more than 10,000 survey files in addition to the Japanese and Latin American Data Banks.[Reviewed]

University of Minnesota Human Rights Library - This site directed by David Weissbrodt and Marci Hoffman, has rapidly proven itself the outstanding electronic data source in this field. Any student of human rights, irrespective of level of expertise, will find this website the finest available.
