Searching Tips for Fine Arts

When searching for a work of art, you will rarely find a single book or article about one artwork. So don't get discouraged. Search by larger, broader terms.

For example:

Thomas Eakins' The Gross Clinic

  • Find articles on the artist himself
  • Look at when the work was done. Were other works done at that time comparable?
  • Look at what other artists are doing around the same time, or the same country.
