    What is ...?

Scholarly journal: Authored by academics for an academic audience. Published by a recognized society with academic goals & missions.

Peer-reviewed journal: Articles go through an editorial review process by the author's peers, people who are considered to be experts in the same subject area. Most scholarly journals are peer-reviewed but not all.
