Terrorism in the 20th Century: A Narrative Encyclopedia from the Anarchists, through the Weathermen, to the Unabomber
Reference (1st Floor) HV6431.N366 1998

Discusses terrorism from a historical perspective, from the U.S.’s first exposure to terrorists, up to the year of writing (note that the volume was published in 1998).  Short chapters are organized chronologically, and a timeline of terrorism in the U.S., a glossary, and bibliography are included.

Encyclopedia of Women and Crime
Reference (1st Floor) HV6046.E56 2000

Presents short (average about a page) entries on topics relating to women and crime: offenses and theories of offending, victims and victimology, policing and courts, and punishment and treatment.  An extensive works cited list, as well as suggestions for further reading at the end of entries, may be helpful for more in-depth research.

The FBI: A Comprehensive Reference Guide
Reference (1st Floor)  HV9304.W54 1996 

Brief essays (1-4 pages) are divided into chapters on the history of the FBI, important cases, organizational structure, relationship to other organizations, etc.

International Handbook on Drug Control
Reference (1st Floor)  HV6789.H25 1998 

Outlines the problem of illicit drug trading worldwide, then surveys the situation in particular countries and regions.

Murder Cases of the Twentieth Century: Biographies and Bibliographies of 280 Convicted or Accused Killers
Book Shelves (2nd Floor) HV6245.F74 1996

An overview of the crime problem written for the general reader, plus extensive lists of resources for further information.
