Industry Codes

Industry codes (SIC and NAICS) appear in company profiles, including those in Hoover's and Mergent Online, and industry resources including First Research, Encyclopedia of American Industries, and Manufacturing and Distribution USA.

Directories, business databases, ratio resources, and government data are arranged by industry codes.

Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes are four-digit codes used to identify an industry.

Industry Group 208: Beverages

Look up the SIC for a specific industry using the SIC Manual at OSHA (U.S. Department of Labor).

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is the standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy.  A NAICS code is a 6-digit code.

Look up the NAICS code for a specific industry using the online NAICS manual at the U.S. Census Bureau.
